Topic: Some Cutscene Concepts.

So, I had a few ideas for cutscenes.

First, let's start off with the intro and both endings (Good and Bad).

I think they should go something like Sonic 3D Blast's (Saturn) CGI intro:

If anybody is good at modeling things like that, we should do something like that for the intro and endings, using these models:

Of course, the models won't actually be in the game. It would be a CGI movie that would be pre-recorded and put onto the game, and the only thing that can be edited on it would be the music.

Now, for the in-game cutscenes.

I feel like the in-game cutscenes should be like the story part of Sonic 3D Blast's (Genesis) intro:

Using pre-rendered versions of the 3D models I was talking about earlier to make something like these:

You forget that the cutscenes from the Saturn were fully pre-rendered such as with NiGHTS.

While that may seem like a sufficient cutscene for modern sonic games like Sonic Colors & Generations, it wouldn't really fit with Xtreme. Being a flagship title they would've wanted to show off Saturn's power.

Sonic Rush-style cutscenes (same style you proposed) never really did it for me. I always found them a chore to sit through, since nothing of major interest really happened in them...

I remember when I first joined the forums there was no activity at all.

Anyway, I think the cut-scenes would've been full motion video with the story implied similar to the opening for sonic the fighters.

I've heard every cutscene in the game was going to be FMV, and they would appear between levels.

Mega Man 8 had FMV cutscenes and we all know how that turned out... "DOCTAH WAHWEE"

I wonder if they were gonna be in the OVA style or not. I definitely want FMV cutscenes. But if I direct them, it's going to be a carbon copy of Mobius Redrawn (the name for my fanseries that adapts all the Sonic games in the Classic style and adds my own quirky twists to them.)

I doubt they were planned to be in the OVA style, especially considering the art style of the game is definitely 3D models, with every pre-rendered sprite being actual 3D models. I bet the FMV cutscenes are going to be animated in 3D, like the cutscenes for the Saturn version of Sonic 3D Blast, maybe with a few more expressions though, as Sonic having that smug smile in every cutscene would make no sense. The OVA style definitely wouldn't clash well.
Also, X-treme was being made by Sega Technical Institute in the United States, not down in Japan, so that would've been impossible, as Sega of America probably never knew this existed.

Actually, look down at The Models Resource. Chris Senn himself actually posted models for Sonic X-Treme that were originally meant for the PC version's cutscenes, but due to the cancellation they never actually got used.

They also resemble the Classic Sonic and Tails models for Sonic Generations, oddly. Especially since Generations was actually several years afterwards... perhaps they based the Generations models after these...?

So what my OC/FC is a Yoshi I was a Mario fan longer than I have been a Sonic fan

I see how you could say they look like the Generations models. Might just be a coincidence though.

Sonics was definitely not intended for Sonic X-treme, they were intended for making the sprites for Sonic Mars.

Tails, however, was used in X-treme for making the sprites. Nothing about cutscenes sadly.

But who knows my memory is about as good as the amount of fun you have with v001.
