Re: BUILD UPDATES

Is the project still running?
What you using as engine? fully from scratch?
Game maker?

Re: BUILD UPDATES

The project i still running, the last build was done on Augest 25th.  The problem is I hit a stalemate with programming, which requires Andrew to overcome, and Andrew has been busy so their really isn't anything I can do.

The game is being built in Gamemaker with the Ultimate3D add on.

Re: BUILD UPDATES

Ultimate 3D add on ;o

Sounds really interesting.

Xeniczone is building in GM7,
I just bought GM8 the other day, so far it seems ok, may have to get Xeniczone GM8.

Which GM do you like?

GM8 should help you guys, it works so much better with most of the features.

Re: BUILD UPDATES

I guessing it would take a while to put everything you coded in GM8?

Then again, I'm not familiar with Game Maker in any way, so I could be wrong.

I've been running GM7 builds of AXSX in GM 8. seems there compatible. at least 1 way, haven't tried sending Xeniczone a GM8 build yet.

I probably don't need to point this out, like, at all, but I'd like to for posterity reasons: Backup!

Re: BUILD UPDATES

I've been following this game since I found out about it on the old Chris Senn boards, and when you mentioned a surprise on Retro, I signed up immediately on your forums. (I didn't hear about them beforehand) Then I read your post, and realized that it could be months before I personally could try the demo. So, since I can't find anywhere else to ask; Approximately how long will the gap between private and public demo release dates be?

Re: BUILD UPDATES

GM8 games don't work on GM7 (sadly) but the new features make it so much better.

Re: BUILD UPDATES

I think Andrew75 and Xeniczone said that they were first gonna release this in December to the elite-members. Then they're gonna release it to the public a month later after all the elites try and spot any glitches and bugs they might encounter in the demo.

Re: BUILD UPDATES

Ah thanks. I missed the "one month later" part. I was afraid it was going to be much longer than that.

16

Re: BUILD UPDATES

Yeah about a month.  We don't want to keep it from the public too long or we end up with a bunch of spam on the forums of people trying to get the game and posting a lot of redundant stuff or just plain out spamming.

But we still want the people who do participate on the forums to have some sort of reward for doing so.

Re: BUILD UPDATES

You guys are building this in Game Maker? I'm shocked. Don't get me wrong I'm a huge Game Maker supporter but I've just never seen 3D this good come out of GM.

21

Re: BUILD UPDATES

It has the support of Ultimate3d.  Which does all the 3d rendering.  So gamemaker is the core programming.

By the way, those builds are very out of date.  We are up to build 50-60 now.  It would just take too long to update this page typing up 40-50 new versions. smile

Re: BUILD UPDATES

Couldn't you just update it once every 25-50 versions or so? (I mean, not every individual one, just in increments of 25-50)
Or would that just be essentially the same thing?

Re: BUILD UPDATES

You could keep a private svn online and just have a link here to the commit log tongue

Edit: Now that I think about it, that might offer too much transparency (I dunno how you feel about people knowing little details about the code itself tongue)

Re: BUILD UPDATES

I just noticed a while ago that the original engine was recycled and used in the game Bug!, and sonic even makes a cameo there big_smile
